nochmal zu den onstart/oncomplete Callbacks: Ich glaube, ich habe den Fehler gefunden. Es scheint daran zu liegen, dass man mindestens einen Parameter angeben muss.

Also anstatt flashVars.onstart = “myFunction”; muss man mindestens “flashVars.onstart = “myFunction,dummy”, angeben. Deshalb klappte es auch in dem Beispiel, aber nicht in meinem Testscript.

Habe in der entsprechenden ActionScript-Datei nur die Stelle gefunden, in der computeStart und computeEnd stattdessen aufgerufen werden, was es aber unmöglich macht, die Callbacks mehrerer Player auf einer Seite voneinander zu unterscheiden :/

Ich sehe nämlich noch immer das Problem, dass beispielsweise nach Video1 die Auswahl für 2 und 3 kommt. Dann bei Klick auf Video 3 aber noch immer 2 und 3 angezeigt werden, oder kann man das vom Video exakt abhängig machen?

Fände es grandios, wenn Du mir da weiterhelfen könntest. Dann schmeiße ich auch gleich PayPal an. :D

ja klar, so etwas müsste gehen, und zwar mithilfe folgender Javascript-Callback-Funktion:

flashvars.oncomplete = “functionName,param1,param2,…”;

Und dann je nach Status verschiedene Videolinks anzeigen lassen.

Es geht darum, dass ich gern einen interaktiven Film im Netz präsentieren würde, und dafür bisher noch keine elegante Möglichkeit gefunden habe. Der Zuschauer soll nach jeder Szene eine neue Auswahl von zwei Szenen haben, und je nachdem wie er sich entscheidet, folgen eben andere Szenen.

Siehst Du da eine Möglichkeit mit diesem Player?

ich denke es würde bei vorhandenem Teaser-Bild schöner aussehen, wenn kein Wechsel zu “Schwarz” da wäre sondern das Hintergrundbild dunkler gemacht wird – ähnlich der modalen Dialoge

XML is not supported by NonverBlaster. You should do that using the flashvar mediaURL or with the javascript playlist.

obviously, the vimeo functionality is broken at the moment, also on my demo pages. If you need a solution very soon, you should try another player. I can’t tell how long it will take or if it still works with vimeo at all.

actually, I never thought about that. I don’t think this is going to happen. How about just controlling everything with the playlist functionality, also the hd/sd ?

I’m trying to combine the playlist feature with switching from sd to hd. Do you have any tip?

hast du in deinem root-Verzeichnis eine crossdomain.xml angelegt? Normalerweise liegt sowas daran. In dem demo-Ordner ist ein Beispiel für solch eine xml zu finden.

Ich habe mir alle deine Beispiele angeschaut und versucht, diese in eine Website einfließen zu lassen, sie ist leider noch nicht online, deswegen kann ich das folgende Problem nur beschreiben:

Aufbau der Website:
Im root-Verzeichnis liegen die html Seiten sowie zwei weitere Ordner: ein Media-Ordner mit einer mp3-File und einer flv-File. Und ein JS-Ordner, der unter anderem deine nonverblaster.js, expressinstall.swf und swf.object enthält.

Problem:
Je nach Lage der nonverblaster.swf File funktioniert a) das Abspielen der flv-File nicht oder b) es ist keine Javascript-Kommunikation möglich.

Beispiel:
Liegt die nonverblaster.swf im Root-Ordner, können Audio und Video ganz normal gestartet werden, aber Javascript-Kommunikation funktioniert nicht. Firebug zeigt dann den Fehler an:
“getFlashMovie(flashMovie).sendToActionScript is not a function”

Liegt die nonverblaster.swf in dem JS- oder Media-Ordner, gehen Audiodatein und die JS-Kommunikation, das flv-Video aber nicht. Dies gleicht dem Fehler von Katja im Post #450 und #452. Wie du dort vorgeschlagen hast, hilft es, die Video-File mit dem absoluten Pfad anzusteuern.

Dies behebt aber nicht den Fehler der fehlenden Js-Kommunikation, wenn die nonverblaster.swf im Root liegt.

Wenn die Zeit es zulässt, wäre es schön, wenn du mir sagen könntest, ob dass nur bei mir so ist, oder ein generelles Problem.

But I found a bug: links to mp3 files on different site are not playing. Player just stock and thats it. Could you fix this? Thank you.

Good News:

An easy workaround for me to use treatAsAudio with autoplay is to set autoplay=false and use javascript to start the player with a setTimeout.

Only the control behaviours (remaining visible, and the progress bar resetting at end of play) are
issues I can’t seem to resolve with resetAll.

My apologies for taking so long to report back to you on the treatAsAudio flashvar.

1. With m4a files, I find the treatAsAudio flashvar set to true works perfectly when autoplay is set to false, but no teaser image appears when autoplay is set to true.

2. With mp3 files, regardless of treatAsAudio flashvar setting, I get no teaser image when autoplay is set to true.

3. Also, with m4a files, it seems the controls do not reset at end of play when treatAsAudio is set to true.

It’s already too much that you provide this tool, but could you include into javascript communication the support to fade in and out the controls?

actually, there is a functionality for javascript playlists. My approach would be to convert the .m3u to a javascript array and then play it back using nonverblaster.

is there a possibility to get a wider range of playable video codecs? Nonverblaster is supporting .mov format but there are different kind of codes and nonverblaster does not work with all of them, or better to say, it works with less of them.
Is there a way to support more such codecs ?

Finally I had to use absolute pathes anyway so there’s no problem for me anymore at this point.

hmm, strange thing, that… I actually use relative urls with my demo pages, it works well over there… Actually, why don’t you use absolute links?

I’m using your player as a fallback for HTML5 video/audio. My script uses the scr of the video/audio tag as mediaURL for the flashplayer. Now I have the trouble with the mediaURL being relative to the nonverblaster.swf instead of relative to the HTML file, too. I realized that for audio files there is no problem. Is there any chance that this will be fixed for video?

i have problems with ie6+7 :(

…..sendToNonverBlaster(‘play’) to use an own playbutton (+ other buttons) at the end of the video shows me the error: object doesnt support this property or method.

Thank you for your fast answer. I can’t reproduce this problem everytime too. It happens somtimes when I toogle a golem.de-Video or other Noverblaster-Videos to fullscreen, shortly after starting the video. Until now it has happened in Opera and in Iceweasel (Firefox) on debian-linux. On Windows oder other linux-distributions I have not tested it yet. How I allready written it firstly happens seemly since the time when flashplayer 10.2 was released. Earlier this never happened.

thank you for that slim and great player. I already fell in love with it at golem.de, and was happy to find an open source version of that player.

I have two feature requests:
1. Would it be possible to add compatibility for a streaming protocol (rtmp://…)?
2. At golem.de they already added advertisements in front of some (or all?) videos. Is is possible to add an advertisement-clip flash variable to the player where one can input another video- or audio-file that cannot be skipped and where the timer counts backwards while playing the ad?

Yes, it was a while… But it only means your player lasts forever. ;-) And that’s because he is so stylish, pure and simple. I use him all the time and I never had a problem. It just happened I saw another site with your player and I discovered some things were changed. And sure, with the controlColor you can fit almost every design, although I loved the possibility to change the color of the loading bar and other elements when the cursor comes over it. Just like I change the colors of links or other elements on a site when the mouse hovers (mostly I change them into white).

I sure don’t want you to do all that work of including this feature again only for me. But if you would be bored and you should find the time to do it, I won’t say no… :-)) I think it is still a feature that enhances the player and give webdesigners more possibilities to fit within their designs. But I agree: you should use it whith care and don’t mix to many colors!

Oh no, this old feature, it’s sooo 2007! ;) You must have been away for a while… Actually, I was really shocked what harm people did to the design of the player with this setting. I also think it is still possible to fit every design with just one color, the controlColor.

If you still insist that you need it, I will re-include it as soon as I find the time.

I thougt this was the meaning of you saying: ‘I removed the functionality of changing the colors of the controls since nobody really used it with the old NonverBlaster (If you think I should re-include it, post an angry comment ;))’

ehat do you mean? There is still the possibility to change the color for the controls. Use “controlColor” for that.

A very nice player indeed.

I regret that the functionality of changing the colors of the controls is gone. I used it and I liked it. Because it gives you more possibilities to get the controls more in line with the rest of the styles of your site. When over a button, the colors change. So, it is nice if the colors of the controls of the player can also change in the same way. Is it a great problem to get that functionality back? Thanks!

sorry for bothering you again but I descovered a strange behaviour in IE8 (and 7) even on your demo site.
None of the players are working. Only the demo with javascript-communication will work after reseting the player. Does anything went wrong after the last update? I can’t remember testing your site with IE before.
Maybe this is the problem with an other issue. When going back in history in IE on the site where your player ist located, I have to reset the player manually. The inital call ist fine but the history.back-call fails. No play-button will show until I reset the player…

We would like to use it! We would like to show ten ‘YouTube’ videos one after another, via the playlist function.

Is it possible to have it working with:

1. YouTube Playlist
2. The Nonverblaster playlist to support many youtube videos.

thanks a lot for your quick response. This updates works better, though in IE7 I encountered a problem. After the movie finished I get an JS-error almost near the sendToNonverBlaster-Function. All other browsers (FF, Opera, IE8, Chrome, Safari) are doing fine.

Also I improved the javascript functionality. It used to call the computeStart just once and not again after resetAll. Try it and report!

Nice thinking with the indentImage, but your arguments were too good to just leave it like that. I introduced a new flashVar called “treatAsAudio”, that makes any given ‘video’-file invisible and makes the player look like if it would be playing audio, even if you give it a .mov file.
See the ‘video-treat-as-audio.html’ in the demo folder of the current .zip file.

@ both of you: The new version of the player needs extensive testing, I would apreciate it much to get a bug report from you :)

I think I have come up with a workaround for displaying teaser images with mp4 and m4a audio files by using the flashvars.indentImageURL instead of the flashvars.teaserURL. This works with all the audio files I have so far tested with one caveat:

The image initially appears off-center or incorrectly scaled (too large), but after a change in screen size (ie to fullscreen and back again) appears to resume scaling properly. Is it possible for the indent image (optionally) to behave like the teaser image, or for the teaser image (optionally) to have the same
visibility properties as the indent image?

You might have the only player capable of overcoming this limitation with AAC audio, the iTunes standard and successor to MP3.

I need a helping hand with two things.
First, why is the player connecting to vimeo.com (crossdomain.xml). I can’t find any line containing vimeo in my script…

Second, I need to know why resetAll from Javascript won’t reset in IE.
To be more specific:
I use computeStart() to resize the div (overflow: hidden) in which the player is located.
A click on a close-Button will resize the div to it’s normal size and stops the video (resetAll). This works fine for the first time.
But the second time the computeStart()-Function won’t be called anymore and so the div remains at its size.
FF will do the job more than once.

Any suggestions?

the thing is, that the paths to the media and teaser file are relative to where the flash-file is located on the server. If you want to put it in some folder, you will have to use absolute paths for mediaURL and teaserURL. This again could cause problems with the flash security restrictions, you would need to put a crossdomain.xml with the necessary information in the root of your server.

one question though .. is it really required that NonverBlaster.swf has to be in the same folder as the what_ever.html file?

(.. ’cause i just put all required *.swf and *.js files in one custom_folder, edited the paths inside the js-part of my what_ever.html and no media could be found anymore. putting just NonverBlaster.swf back to the what_ever.html and letting those other files stay in the custom_folder works fine though.)

The javascript change color of player, doesn’t work, or it just doesn’t work in your demo area.

Vimeo isn’t working atm.

Youtube is still, when the controls disappear once, they never come back^^

PS: If you want to fetch the youtube teaser image do this

Instead of default can be also a number like 1,2 etc. Depends how many thumbs are available.

Can the play play mp4?

Because if you try it on your browser it works for me.
Also worked for my php and shell script with wget or curl.

I see that you are using a h.264 / AAC .mov file.
You have to export it with preparation for streaming / fast start (I always do it in quicktime 7 pro) so that it can start before it is fully loaded.

I’m really enjoying setting up this player for my site.

My one problem is that the player doesn’t start playing until it has completely load which is about 50 secs for me. This is not the case with the teaser video here, I’ve crossed checked everything and I can’t solve them problem…

help would be much appreciated.

actually, i was able to fix it! So I’ve done it already ;)

Download the newest .zip file, you can find an example of how to do change the backcolor in the audio simple example, or even here: http://nonverbla.de/nonverblaster-hover/audio.html

The new Flashvar for the background-color of the player is called playerBackColor (who would have thought this ;) If you use it, it draws a rectangle in the flash player which has the desired color. Then, wmode = “transparent” has no effect anymore.

I found a little bug (maybe): using the audio-js-playlist-sample, IE8 doesn’t show / ignores the given background color defined in attributes.bgcolor …

(Not tested in other versions of IE up to now)

If the background color should be simply white, it is possible to add params.wmode = “transparent” – but there is no way to define the background color of the player in IE8 – the background will be always black.

Hope, you can fix it … i know you can fix it ;-)
