Hi!

Is there a way to set the controls so they always show, not just on hover?

Thanks!

Hi,

Also anstatt flashVars.onstart = "myFunction"; muss man mindestens "flashVars.onstart = "myFunction, dummy", angeben.

Lieben Gruß,

Sascha

Hey Sascha,

ja klar, so etwas müsste gehen, und zwar mithilfe folgender Javascript-Callback-Funktion:

flashvars.oncomplete = "functionName,param1,param2,...";

Sascha

I am using Nonverblaster:hover in my wordpress theme: http://bannerfish.biz/rustic-wordpress-theme-2-1-x/ .
I use it in conjunction with "Pretty Photo" lightbox to support self-hosted video and mp3's. This works great because all the possibilities are covered. Pretty Photo plays Vimeo perfectly, while Nonverblaster:hover takes care of FLV's, MP4's, MP3's etc. Thanks for giving this one away for free!

Nice work. It solved my problem to display mp4 videos on my typo3 site (www.wobe-team.com).
I'm using it together with mediaboxAdvanced and blended another typo3 extension to use it with
image links in image/text content (wbt_medialight).

Best Regards,
Connor

hmmm... o.k.

Hi Steven,

XML is not supported by NonverBlaster. You should do that using the flashvar mediaURL or with the javascript playlist.

Check out the <a href="http://video.nonverbla.de/" rel="nofollow">demo pages</a> for more information.

Hi Rasso,
I just came across your player via a friend of mines website.
I wanted ask ask you a few questions as i need to update my player on my website asap.
At the moment i use a flash player that i kind of made myself from components.
I have to upload new videos regularly and at the moment i do this using an xml list pointing to the folder that holds the flvs.
This works great and all i need to do is copy the link, enter the new link details and upload a new xml file to me root folder on my server.
Would i be able to use the same kind of xml list procedure with you player?
If so could you shed a bit of light as to how i could do that.

Can you also play H264 Quicktimes in the player ?

Thank you very much and i look forward to hearing from you soon.
Cheers,
Steven

Hi Jaime,

obviously, the vimeo functionality is broken at the moment, also on my <a href="http://video.nonverbla.de/vimeo.php" rel="nofollow">demo pages</a>. If you need a solution very soon, you should try another player. I can't tell how long it will take or if it still works with vimeo at all.

best,
Rasso

actually, I never thought about that. I don't think this is going to happen. How about just controlling everything with the playlist functionality, also the hd/sd ?

Thank you Rasso for the quick response.
Another little thing I cam across is the fact, that it seems not possible use flashvars.onClick = "togglePlay" on audio files with a teaser image.
I was also wondering if it was intentional, that the function
"nonverBlasterClickHandler()" in your .js-file can only be triggered once. Any further triggering requires a reloading of the page/ resetting of the player.

Best regards and keep up the good work

Hi Mirko,

hast du in deinem root-Verzeichnis eine crossdomain.xml angelegt? Normalerweise liegt sowas daran.

"getFlashMovie(flashMovie).sendToActionScript is not a function"

Mirko

Hi guys,

Your player is awesome, thank you!

But I found a bug: links to mp3 files on different site are not playing. Player just stock and thats it. Could you fix this? Thank you.

Hello Rasso,

Good News:

An easy workaround for me to use treatAsAudio with autoplay is to set autoplay=false and use javascript to start the player with a setTimeout.

Only the control behaviours (remaining visible, and the progress bar resetting at end of play) are
issues I can't seem to resolve with resetAll.

Many thanks

Hello Rasso,

My apologies for taking so long to report back to you on the treatAsAudio flashvar.

1. With m4a files, I find the treatAsAudio flashvar set to true works perfectly when autoplay is set to false, but no teaser image appears when autoplay is set to true.

2. With mp3 files, regardless of treatAsAudio flashvar setting, I get no teaser image when autoplay is set to true.

3. Also, with m4a files, it seems the controls do not reset at end of play when treatAsAudio is set to true.

Many MANY thanks for this.

Cheers

It's already too much that you provide this tool, but could you include into javascript communication the support to fade in and out the controls?

Can the player handle flv cue points?
I need a player where i can load a cue point file an when a cue point is hit the player should call a javascript function with the cue point parameters.
Is something possible with your player? thx

Hi Harry,

actually, there is a functionality for javascript playlists. My approach would be to convert the .m3u to a javascript array and then play it back using nonverblaster.

best

Is it possible to play a .m3u stream or playlist in NonverBlaster? It's a great player and we'd like to roll it out onto the radio stream as well.

Thanks for the best, cleanest flash audio player on the web!

Hi,

is there a possibility to get a wider range of playable video codecs? Nonverblaster is supporting .mov format but there are different kind of codes and nonverblaster does not work with all of them, or better to say, it works with less of them.
Is there a way to support more such codecs ?

In your examples the nonverblaster.swf is on same level as the HTML file. So the mediaURL is relative to the nonverblaster.swf and the calling HTML file at the same time. I assume that's why it works in that case. If you move the nonverblaster.swf elsewhere (of course referencing the new location) it won't work (won't find video files).

Finally I had to use absolute pathes anyway so there's no problem for me anymore at this point.

Hi Rasso,

I'm using your player as a fallback for HTML5 video/audio. My script uses the scr of the video/audio tag as mediaURL for the flashplayer. Now I have the trouble with the mediaURL being relative to the nonverblaster.swf instead of relative to the HTML file, too. I realized that for audio files there is no problem. Is there any chance that this will be fixed for video?

Many thanks and greets,
Katja

Hello Rasso,

Thank you for your fast answer. I can't reproduce this problem everytime too. It happens somtimes when I toogle a golem.de-Video or other Noverblaster-Videos to fullscreen, shortly after starting the video. Until now it has happened in Opera and in Iceweasel (Firefox) on debian-linux. On Windows oder other linux-distributions I have not tested it yet. How I allready written it firstly happens seemly since the time when flashplayer 10.2 was released. Earlier this never happened.

Many thanks
Greetings

Hello Rasso,

thank you for that slim and great player. I already fell in love with it at golem.de, and was happy to find an open source version of that player.

I have two feature requests:
1. Would it be possible to add compatibility for a streaming protocol (rtmp://...)?
2. At golem.de they already added advertisements in front of some (or all?) videos. Is is possible to add an advertisement-clip flash variable to the player where one can input another video- or audio-file that cannot be skipped and where the timer counts backwards while playing the ad?

Thanks for your reply in advance!

hi rasso,
thanks for the fast response. i've tested it and it seems to work now... yeeehaaa!
the only thing is, as long as the teaser image is loading now, the play-button shows some fancy colors. and when the image has loaded, the color swiches to the chosen one.

thanks so much man! love your player! i'm using it for years right now.

hi rasso,

i'd like to report the same problems in IE8 which jens recently posted:

433. Jens Says:
February 8th, 2011

only the first time I enter my video page there is a play button. after that I have to reset the Player manually to start another video.
and yes, it's the same problem on your demo page...

everything works fine in ff and safari on a mac but not in ie. do you have any conclusions?

Thanks!

I can't reproduce the white screen on my system, for fixing this I would need exact information on what you did before it goes white.

sometimes my whole system freezes with a whitescreen, when I switch the nonverblasterhover to fullscreen, I guess since update to flash 10.2. Then the system don't react on any keyboard-input. I never had another case which makes my linux-system to hang completly.

Hi Rasso,

Yes, it was a while... But it only means your player lasts forever. ;-) And that's because he is so stylish, pure and simple. I use him all the time and I never had a problem. It just happened I saw another site with your player and I discovered some things were changed. And sure, with the controlColor you can fit almost every design, although I loved the possibility to change the color of the loading bar and other elements when the cursor comes over it. Just like I change the colors of links or other elements on a site when the mouse hovers (mostly I change them into white).

I sure don't want you to do all that work of including this feature again only for me. But if you would be bored and you should find the time to do it, I won't say no... :-)) I think it is still a feature that enhances the player and give webdesigners more possibilities to fit within their designs. But I agree: you should use it whith care and don't mix to many colors!

Thanks again for this wonderful player!

Hi Geert,

Oh no, this old feature, it's sooo 2007! ;) You must have been away for a while... Actually, I was really shocked what harm people did to the design of the player with this setting. I also think it is still possible to fit every design with just one color, the controlColor.

If you still insist that you need it, I will re-include it as soon as I find the time.

Sorry, perhaps I should have been more specific. What I mean is the change of the colors when you hover the controls. So, a different color for normal and mouse over. I had an old version of the player where the color of the playing bar and the buttons could be set different if you move the mouse over it. I could set this to white, while normally it was green or some other color. You understand what I mean?

I thougt this was the meaning of you saying: 'I removed the functionality of changing the colors of the controls since nobody really used it with the old NonverBlaster (If you think I should re-include it, post an angry comment ;))'

Hi,

A very nice player indeed.

I regret that the functionality of changing the colors of the controls is gone. I used it and I liked it. Because it gives you more possibilities to get the controls more in line with the rest of the styles of your site. When over a button, the colors change. So, it is nice if the colors of the controls of the player can also change in the same way. Is it a great problem to get that functionality back? Thanks!

Hi Rasso,

sorry for bothering you again but I descovered a strange behaviour in IE8 (and 7) even on your demo site.
None of the players are working. Only the demo with javascript-communication will work after reseting the player. Does anything went wrong after the last update? I can't remember testing your site with IE before.
Maybe this is the problem with an other issue. When going back in history in IE on the site where your player ist located, I have to reset the player manually. The inital call ist fine but the history.back-call fails. No play-button will show until I reset the player...

Have a nice day on these warm days...

Hi there, Brilliant Player!!!

We would like to use it! We would like to show ten 'YouTube' videos one after another, via the playlist function.

Is it possible to have it working with:

1. YouTube Playlist
2. The Nonverblaster playlist to support many youtube videos.

When trying to add you tube urls in the new array, there are errors and it says 'error no video file found, http'

Many thanks :)

This is the problem. IE7 doesn't say much.
IE7 works almost fine. I can stop the player and restart it anytime the movie hasn't finished. When the movie has finished and I close my div the player resets. When I start the player again the div won't resize. After closing the div I get the js-error.

It says: "Das Objekt unterstützt diese Eigenschaft oder Methode nicht" Zeile 23 Zeichen 2.
In my .js (see: http://www.speedshare.org/download.php?id=DC940D0E11) it must be the part within sending info to flash.

Hope this helps.

@ Jens,

I shouldn't work so late, you are right, but since I don't get money out of this player, it doesn't feel so much like work ;)

What does the IE7 Error say exactly? I can't test it, I'm on a MAC...

Hi Rasso,

thanks a lot for your quick response. This updates works better, though in IE7 I encountered a problem. After the movie finished I get an JS-error almost near the sendToNonverBlaster-Function. All other browsers (FF, Opera, IE8, Chrome, Safari) are doing fine.
Can I pm you the link to the testing-site, cos I don't want to show the world... Send me mail if possible.

Jens

P.S. You shouldn't work so late/early :-)
P.P.S vimeo-call is gone. Thank you.

@ jens

The default vimeo call should be gone now, it should just call it if needed. Thanks for the hint!
Also I improved the javascript functionality. It used to call the computeStart just once and not again after resetAll. Try it and report!

@Gregory

Nice thinking with the indentImage, but your arguments were too good to just leave it like that. I introduced a new flashVar called "treatAsAudio", that makes any given 'video'-file invisible and makes the player look like if it would be playing audio, even if you give it a .mov file.
See the 'video-treat-as-audio.html' in the demo folder of the current .zip file.

@ both of you: The new version of the player needs extensive testing, I would apreciate it much to get a bug report from you :)

cheers

Hello Rasso:

I think I have come up with a workaround for displaying teaser images with mp4 and m4a audio files by using the flashvars.indentImageURL instead of the flashvars.teaserURL. This works with all the audio files I have so far tested with one caveat:

The image initially appears off-center or incorrectly scaled (too large), but after a change in screen size (ie to fullscreen and back again) appears to resume scaling properly. Is it possible for the indent image (optionally) to behave like the teaser image, or for the teaser image (optionally) to have the same
visibility properties as the indent image?

You might have the only player capable of overcoming this limitation with AAC audio, the iTunes standard and successor to MP3.

Many thanks
Gregory

PS: In response to a previous post, I also noticed an unwanted connection to vimeo running after a recent download of the player. Is there a connection being established by default?

Cheers

Hi!

Thanks a lot for your great work.
I need a helping hand with two things.
First, why is the player connecting to vimeo.com (crossdomain.xml). I can't find any line containing vimeo in my script...

Second, I need to know why resetAll from Javascript won't reset in IE.
To be more specific:
I use computeStart() to resize the div (overflow: hidden) in which the player is located.
A click on a close-Button will resize the div to it's normal size and stops the video (resetAll). This works fine for the first time.
But the second time the computeStart()-Function won't be called anymore and so the div remains at its size.
FF will do the job more than once.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot

@ chris

the thing is, that the paths to the media and teaser file are relative to where the flash-file is located on the server. If you want to put it in some folder, you will have to use absolute paths for mediaURL and teaserURL. This again could cause problems with the flash security restrictions, you would need to put a crossdomain.xml with the necessary information in the root of your server.

quite bad, i know.

cheers

really nice player you created there. =)

one question though .. is it really required that NonverBlaster.swf has to be in the same folder as the what_ever.html file?

(.. 'cause i just put all required *.swf and *.js files in one custom_folder, edited the paths inside the js-part of my what_ever.html and no media could be found anymore. putting just NonverBlaster.swf back to the what_ever.html and letting those other files stay in the custom_folder works fine though.)

not an issue at all .. just asking.

cheers,
-chris.

Feature request:
I'd love some sort of javascript call that would return the current video timecode. This would allow me to display the timecode somewhere else on the screen or be able to call other events when a specified time occurs.

I love nonverblaster. Thank you for all you've done.

I started already testing it.

The javascript change color of player, doesn't work, or it just doesn't work in your demo area.

Vimeo isn't working atm.

Youtube is still, when the controls disappear once, they never come back^^

PS: If you want to fetch the youtube teaser image do this

http://img.youtube.com/vi/{videoid}/default.jpg

Instead of default can be also a number like 1,2 etc. Depends how many thumbs are available.

Hi Horfic,

yes, you were right, it works! No idea what was wrong with my first try...
I've uploaded a new .zip file, I would be very grateful for extensive testing (also of the other features like simple video and audio), since the changes, especially for the youtube feature, were quite extreme... ;)

Can the play play mp4?

Because if you try it on your browser it works for me.
Also worked for my php and shell script with wget or curl.

[IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type. URL: http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop/play/clip:15390240/e10ba9a14f22005c4b029fc08c4eec44/1289575800/?q=sd"]

Could it be that this is for javascript only?

I already managed to load the moogaloo player in flash, but it's not possible to hide the controls there, I posted a request on the vimeo forums:

Thanks,
well if you got eg http://vimeo.com/15390240
than you would need to send a request to http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop/load/clip:15390240

so ID is 15390240

Thats an xml file. You need two informations out of it
request_signature and request_signature_expire

with all three of them you build than the link to the file

http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop/play/clip:15390240/38c7be0cecb92a0a3623c2769bccf73b/1221451200/?q=sd

http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop/play/clip:{id}/{request_signature}/{request_signature_expires}/?q=sd

PS: instead of sd you can also do hd

Hi,
i tried the youtube example, but it only shows me the default video, even if i set a diffrent one, and the stop, play etc doesn't work, the interface disapears after first play and the video just plays, also here on the example page. So is that a bug?

PS: Could you do the same with vimeo.
Instructions would be here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=220138&postcount=3

Hi all,

Today I had some spare hours, so I finished the youtube feature for my player.
I think someone was asking for it, so hopefully, he is still subscribed to the comments ;)

An example can be found here: http://nonverbla.de/nonverblaster-hover/youtube.html

cheers

Hi Max,

I see that you are using a h.264 / AAC .mov file.
You have to export it with preparation for streaming / fast start (I always do it in quicktime 7 pro) so that it can start before it is fully loaded.

cheers

Hi

I'm really enjoying setting up this player for my site.

My one problem is that the player doesn't start playing until it has completely load which is about 50 secs for me. This is not the case with the teaser video here, I've crossed checked everything and I can't solve them problem...

help would be much appreciated.

thanks

Hi Jan,

actually, i was able to fix it! So I've done it already ;)

Download the newest .zip file, you can find an example of how to do change the backcolor in the audio simple example, or even here: http://nonverbla.de/nonverblaster-hover/audio.html

The new Flashvar for the background-color of the player is called playerBackColor (who would have thought this ;) If you use it, it draws a rectangle in the flash player which has the desired color. Then, wmode = "transparent" has no effect anymore.

cheers

Time to say "thank you" again - because of you added an audio playlist sample that i missed very much ...

I found a little bug (maybe): using the audio-js-playlist-sample, IE8 doesn't show / ignores the given background color defined in attributes.bgcolor ...

(Not tested in other versions of IE up to now)

If the background color should be simply white, it is possible to add params.wmode = "transparent" - but there is no way to define the background color of the player in IE8 - the background will be always black.

Hope, you can fix it ... i know you can fix it ;-)

Thanks Jan

Hi Nik,

I tested the file »big_buck_bunny.mp4« with my player and it works like a charm!
Hmm, I don't know maybe you should try and re-download the current .zip file and try it again.

cheers
